A few days ago, I got a wild hair up my butt to try the Apocalypse Challenge yet again! I opened up the Sims 2 and realize I had deleted the latest South of Heaven (The Do Over). So I loaded up CAS in Uni to make her over, yet again. Things were smooth as butta, and Uni wasn't as horrible as it had been in the past. She graduated with max skills and a fiance. She then moved into the safe house...and we'll get to all that in a bit.

After getting to the point of her being at the Apoco-lot and meditating through the day/night, I decided to head over to the forums at boolprop to see if there were any rules/restrictions I could snag to add to mine. I figured it's been a few months, others probably have a better grasp on the advantages of FT and AL than I do. Big mistake! Not really, but wow, the folks over there have gone crazy with trying so very hard to update the rules for these two eps. So naturally I joined in and offered up my services with giving the new site a clean up.

It was in the process of doing this that I realized IRfanView decided to not work for me anymore. All of the picures I took (even a few in Uni) were simply black blobs. Oh I was pissed! Still am actually. At this point, I'm pretty sure I'm cursed with this founder. But she's so damn great that I can't bare the thought of not continuing, especially because she's doing so well.

So now, I bring you a photoless, and pretty much storyless version of event that have happened to Mary Browne thus far:Collapse )

Chapter Two: aka, the one where nothing eventful happens. This is the 'problem' when you move in a sim already at the top of their career.

Boring stuff:
I successfully cleaned up an old computer and have The Sims 2 installed on it. Whilst going through cc withdrawl and subsquent downloading frenzy, I came across an interesting mod/hack; Zombie Disease by Black_Spirit @ mts. It got me back in the Apocalypse mood.

With the mod and a lot of brokendown/grunge/etc cc, I'm back in Apocalypse land! Hopefully I'll be able to see this one through, barring any actual apocalypse or computer malfunctions.

When I attempted to start one before my laptop crashed, I combined multiple lists of rules from everywhere I could find them. Honeslty, I don't remember where but boolprop.com was a huge help.

Here's the list of rules I'm using.

I've been having issues playing a family legacy style...I get so bored so very easily. I blame it on too many attempts at the Apocalypse Challenge, but I digress. I found this wonderful little mini challenge that could be played in the course of a day (in my life anyways) so I had a go of it. Rules are here should you be so inclined. Though you should know I did tweek a few rules: I had a shower instead of a tub (but I made it look islandish by adding a "barrel" of sorts) and I had a radio. I'm always curious to see who's going to smustle all on their own...though this group kind of disapointed me. Only two. And not at the same time.

Oh and I actually kept score...I ended up with 244 points! Whoot!

It's also worth a mention of how I played. I only had the needs panel visable (not the wants) and I only gave commands to do things with objects. All interaction between the sims was free will. I was curious to see who would be friends/enemies on their own. Also once a skill was maxed, instead of moving them out, I pretty much let them do whatever they wanted. I don't like sims in the sim bin. Especially when I may never play them again.

onto the madnessCollapse )

A few days ago, Sunday to be exact, my laptop with all my EPs, SPs and cc went kerplut. With my financial status the way it is and the price of smokes on the rise, fixing the laptop isn't an option. So away with the apocalypse and in with the prosperity.

Because of limited space on my desktop, I only have Deluxe, Uni and Seasons. I don't really feel the need to start yet another apocalypse, but I want some kind of gameplay strategy so I'm opting for Prosperity this go round. I've never played a neighborhood to its full potential. Namely I'll plop a family in and just play them, get bored, rinse and repeat. So needless to say, this will be quite the adventure for me.

Riverblossom Hills, Prosperity StyleCollapse )

As of tonight, I've only played the first three families (a whopping 28 sim hours each - that's to Tuesday at 12.01pm sim time). This was mainly plopping them in their houses, getting them quick jobs, meeting the welcome wagons and such. Oh, but I did have oh so much fun moving all the maxis families to the simbin, then adding them 6 at a time to the Roth House, then killing them with insim (setting their motives to 0). Lemme tell ya, I think Grim either has a crush on me or is out to get me for the hell I put him through today. But at least I now have a loverly community cemetary.

I'm not sure how I'm going to handle the story/updating aspect at the moment. It seems a bit daunting so I may just snap pictures here and there and write up weekly summaries. I really don't know much yet, I dont even have a name for this project...I should work on that. But hopefully I'll be able to finish what I start this go round.
